Poetry written as an undergraduate; never published.
collegiate yellow
hair-deep
in the Dixie-cup dusk
we stared the sun down
until our eye-color fled
we waited for the rays
to highlight us
as if we were important sentences
on a dull page of text
in the meantime we stood
trying to pimp our potential
trying to utilize
profit by
& employ
trying to ignore
that there is no such thing
as a bird’s-eye-view
of the sun
we could be defective lemons
propitious plums
or a fruit in between
yet to be coined
at the least
please
put us in the store
