This is a poem I wrote in 2001 for my poetry unit in middle school. The assignment was to write a poem about picture we were given, it was a picture that portrayed war.
What is the color of war?
Union soldiers dressed in blue,
Confederate soldiers dressed in brown,
The grass I s green & red,
The gun is black & brown,
The ground is black, brown, & red.
What is the color of war?
The sky is gray,
The tears are blue,
The hair is mixed with red,
The flesh is red, white, & black,
Bloodshed is red,
The color of war is red.
