One of two metaphors the author uses to explain his own life.

Reality flows around me
subtly changing my course
but my life is a dream of a ship
I have my own driving force
At times I sail in a fleet
…surrounded by my friends
at others I float alone
weathering storms without end
It’s not the Good Ship Lollipop
or a Yellow Submarine
it’s not always smooth sailing
the decks aren’t always clean
But I AM the captain
only I can choose my path
and if I choose unwisely
it is I that must face God’s wrath
So if it suits your fancy
come sail with me a while
we can brave the storms together
and let the sun light up our smiles
