Jesus did not call us to be successful by the world’s standards, but only to be faithful to His!
Come, Thou Good, Successful Servant?
“His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.” Matthew 25:21, 23
“And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.” Matthew 26:39
“Come, thou good, successful servant”?
Nay! Must only faithful be!
Carest thou not for the work before thee?
The Saviour cared not for Calvary!
Then our arguments are shriveled,
Withered leaves within the fire,
As we see Him Whom we follow,
Set like a flint toward the Father’s desire!
