Celebrating the epistemology of the epidermis.
The complexity of my own complexion.
The sweet sin of my savory skin … outside.
And within.
[Spenserian Sonnet]
Caramel, carefully caressing my complexion
Attacks my epidermal hues
Covers me carelessly like the spread of infection:
Sweet melanin maliciously subdued.
Deliciously nude
Like a rewind in time back when Eve first roamed this Earth;
I, born with this bruise
Honey, dues bullied my body at birth.
Milk chocolate mocha drops were disbursed
From The Lord’s Golden Syringe into my mother’s womb
Like walls within King Tut’s glamorous grave awaiting Cleopatra’s rebirth,
Emerging her gold-plated reincarnation a divine human design mummified from her tomb
I ooze the weight of original American wealth as I walk.
Oh carat-coated complexion! How you dare to mimic the reflection of an old miner’s prize-possessed block!
