A poem about living with dissociative identity disorder.

Do you know just how it feels

to hear the song of many different voices

singing your every journey on through life

and not in harmony, either

niggling, crawling around your ear

reality tearing at the seams

endless burning surrounding

individual souls

through various conflicting noises

time disintegrating all to dust

as over one it becomes dawn

another, shining stars at nightfall

stripping thoughts at every switch

each one wanting to take centre stage

all hands of different ages

groping around your brain

looking in the mirror

to a face that is no longer the same
