This poem is about a soldier in the Vietnam war that received a Congressional Medal of Honor.

As we deployed, our chopper was hit
a pilot downed over a suicide trip;
Away we ran, and layed in grass
bullets were fired, visciously fast;
Soldiers, we were so our goal was to fight
holding our position, successful that night;

Morning came, and bullets as well
sending our troops to heaven, thiers to hell;
Soldiers were shooting, some were running
sadley I admit that most were dying;
Pinned down we were by enemy fire
up I stood with complete desire;

killing the enemy man by man;
Wounded by sharpnel from a fragment gernades
I kept on my feet, striving killing more that day;
Soon enough the jungle was calm
which allowed U.S. troops to leave Vietnam;

Now I share the memories i’ve gained
of the horrible time when few became;
the hero’s of war that no-one liked
although for yall we went to fight;
and used our bodies in such a riddle
just to be thanks in a form of medal.
