I took one step; it was not good….
Poem:
I took one step it was not good;
The second was but merely fair;
The third was not I thought it would,
Although I did so with some care.
The fourth I figured it to be
Enough to let my spirit leap,
Considering my agility
To let my genuine purpose keep;
But with the fifth, I felt some vigor,
Not just the emptiness of rigor,
Then I thought, should I have taken
Far longer strides enough to let
My true endeavor to awaken
That I might sooner try to get
The goal that seems so far, forsaken?
Likewise, life can be no fun
With little steps that do no more
Than leaving nothing fully done,
With no fulfillment set in store;
One step or more suffices not,
To reach ones ever-cherished goal,
But longer strides that count a lot,
Quickening the spirit and the soul.
