What’s wrong with the world?
What up John Q, it’s been sometime since we first met.
I was new to the world, just learned to walk & talk. I was set.
At first you were a stranger, and then I felt comfortable around you.
But now, it looks like you changed; now you got a new crew.
Ken, how’s it been? It’s been 25 years; I changed, but not by much.
I remember when you were little, it was a fun time, seems we lost touch.
I’m still all around you, teaching you new things, here and there.
I was nicer back then, but the world is cruel & I have new lessons to share.
So what’s going on? You got an attitude now and you seem so strong.
Things used to be so peaceful, little kids felt safe, what went wrong?
When did teens start having babies and they think it’s so cool?
Since when did America vote on a president that talks like a fool?
Hey, hey! Stop that nagging, you were so young back then, so naive.
I told you what you wanted to hear, you were so quick to believe.
Truth is, everyone is out for themselves now, that is lesson one.
The time for sharing, equality and compromises are over and done.
What?! What about relationships and loving the fellow man?
Remember the whole peace movement, whatever happened to that plan?
I have noticed a terrible change in you; it seems you no longer care.
If we are supposed to move forward in life, why can’t you be fair?
You can love and have relationships, but hey, everyone cheats!
You talk “peace” but look how you treat people that live on the streets.
I’ll give you another lesson for your ramblings boy. That lesson is greed.
Greed is the motivation inside the brain; it festers and learns to breed.
Yes, I’ve heard the saying you made, “money is the root of all evil”,
But I can’t believe you’ve let this hunger get so strong among the people.
We have bigger issues to worry about like curing our bodies of diseases.
We don’t have time to waste and let greed do whatever ever it pleases.
Sorry, greed is too strong to resist. You can never have enough, just more.
Listen to me carefully, you can’t share everything and have an even score,
If people keep taking from you, you’re just going to be left behind Ken.
Things aren’t what it used to be; honestly I’m trying to help you out, friend.
But you’d think that after 9/11 and Katrina, people would stop the hate.
You’d think people would learn to appreciate what makes this country great.
When did people learn to disrespect authority figures like the police and teachers?
Why have we lost trust in the government and even turn our back on our preachers?
Please! It’s because of 9/11 that we watch each other with a careful eye.
You have to look out for yourself now; you can never trust the next guy.
The authority figures you speak of are the worst of all the enemies on the list.
With all the power and money they have, it would be tough for any man to resist.
So it’s like that? You aren’t even going to correct yourself, just give excuses?
What about all the protests, marches and after wars, don’t countries make truces?
What would it take for the anger to die down and the country to be the best?
How can you change enough so that America can be respected above all the rest?
I’m sorry my friend, I’m far too gone. It would be a miracle to get things right.
The majority of people don’t see how they are and won’t change without a fight.
It’s an uphill battle that has no end in sight and peace has no room to begin.
It’ll get to a point when the evil will boil over and *POOF* the world will end.
