The haunting feelings of “too good to be true” go through her head as it seems she’s lost the love of her life…
She felt alive
When she was with him,
Alive in a way
She’d never known
To be possible.
He seemed to be the reason,
The single, main purpose,
To her having ever existed at all.
As though every moment
In her life had occurred
Solely to bring her here,
To him,
Where she belongs.
And then life snatched him away,
Laughing at her
For foolishly thinking
That she could be happy
For any extended period of time,
Mocking her saying,
“Feeling alive is a luxury
Few can afford.”
She misses him terribly.
She misses herself too.
She feels as though
She’s being eaten alive,
Fully aware
That she’s dying inside.
She sullenly sits
At her own death bed,
Accepting her inevitable fate,
Knowing that soon
She’ll be a walking corpse.
