We all know dieting.

empty belly, weighed by
scale’s numbers
and directed by the
flux:

it’s not so much about counting calories as
weighing the odds:
“if i eat this now, i can’t eat that then.”

i’ve heard that
eating sugar before bed
induces dreams of desired destinations
coming to life
out of the subconscious.

but the brownies weren’t fulfilling,
and they’ve certainly gotten less
liberal with the sprinkles.
