This poem is written to honor the memory of a lady named Tina Volk. For a long time, she endured a difficult life of abuse and neglect, but finally broke free and dedicated herself to help others with similar experiences.
We met some time ago and briefly spoke then,
but I had the privilege of knowing about you,
through another friend.
Yesterday, she told me you were gone
and her eyes were full of tears.
Then, I heard some more
and knew how much she admired you,
because
your bravery
had taught her to be brave too.
I was also very sad,
but realized that now,
you aren’t feeling any pain
and are completely happy and free
to roam with your ancestors.
Take care, my friend,
I’m sure
we’ll see each other again,
some day.
