A poem about a long-distance relationship.

I wish we could count every day as one spent together

Instead of counting the months we’ve spent apart

Counting days, what a happy measure

Like it was from the start.

Back when we counted dates and winks and smiles

We measured our distance by inches, not miles

I counted the times you made me blush

Said I was beautiful, and turned me to mush

I guess I thought it would be like that forever and always

Oh how I wish we could go back to counting days

I am tired of counting months and seasons and birthdays we’ve missed

It is an awful, terrible, lonely list

Times when all I wanted was to see your smile

Nights when all I could do was cry awhile

I wish we could go back to counting the times when we never said a word

Never uttered a syllable

And yet I completely understood

Because the look in your eyes makes up for everything I haven’t heard

I wish we weren’t apart

Like it was from the start

Back when we counted dates and winks and smiles

And we measured our distance in inches, not miles

I can really relate to this poem.

I know what it’s like to want to be with someone, and they are far away from you. Phone calls just don’t cut it.
