This poem is inspired by the xenophobia problem experienced in Africa and its senselessness.

COUNTRIES SET THEM APART

The sea of dark faces

With burning bright torches

Scoured the streets of their land,

In a frenzied rage they set their

Minds to look for the faces of them.

The people of a difference,

Who had embarked on a journey

Looking for the better, the new

Pursued the opportunities that

They had refused to pursue.

Them, the people who sought

A difference in a new land they

Were forced to call their home.

But the sea of dark faces

Scowled in pure hatred and

Fought the people they blamed

For their plight.

They torched their spirit and

Ignored the difference they had

Made to their land.

Them the same dark faces

As the ones who tortured and

Killed them because somehow

They were so different
