I know a lot of them, also did not see- that is about as tough as an elephants foot. Or – as tough as a mothers hart. Put that in the turtle hull. Open the glove pocket. Wow- showing my age here.

Also:

Like a hog on ice. Meaning someone is have trouble walking on a slick surface.

When asked what is in the box (or closet, or bag,etc.)...Layovers to catch meddlers.

Got my tongue wrapped around my eye teeth and couldn\'t see what I was saying. Meaning you made a error when trying to speak.

Got a head on him like a house cat. Meaning he did something clever.

Too many cooks spoil the broth.

Good read. Love all those sayings. Thanks!

You did a nice job of gathering, here are some others I love:

"slipperier than deer guts on a pump handle."
"stronger than a garlic milkshake"
"You're tongue's waggin' like a blind dog's tail in a meat market."

Cheers,

Thanks to everyone for your comments. We do say these things but not as much as in years past. I hear and say them less and less. I love all the old sayings because I grew up with them.
