Family.

Minds alike yet far apart

The blood we share is in our heart

You’re my cousin you know its true

We are family through and through

Some of the best times I’ve had with you

Always when I’m sad or blue

You are there to help me through

It’s a crazy world what can we do

Share our thoughts, hopes, and dream come trues

With you it’s not hard to see

This feeling of love was meant to be

You are my cousin and I hope you see

How much you really mean to me.

Envy you, as I am not close with my cousins though we have known one another for so long.

I have over 50 first cousins. I knew them all when we were growing up – my mom’s and dad’s families were both very close.
I remember great times playing with cousins. My mom’s family used to all descend on Grandma’s house on Friday evening, and we would play hide ‘n seek, every version of tag. and all kinds of games.

Now I mostly see my cousins at weddings and funerals. But we still have that bond of blood and the shared memories of growing up together.

I wrote an article called Age is Relative about my relatives. It’s one of the first things I wrote for Triond.
