Breaking up is hard. It may take a while to recover, by your heart will come around eventually.

COZY ARMS

I remember that night like it was just last week

Like it was only a few years back

Oh, I remember it well

as if it were only seven years and months ago

when my heart fell asleep

It just isn’t right it seems to me

to toss around in fitful slumber

and not fall awake in cozy arms

so sad to feel it float around

on a salty pond from weeping

moving aimlessly by gales of heavy sighs

What happened to my heart

Where is the tragedy

What once was carefree and comfortable

now lies in restless hibernation

to only dream of cozy arms

My mind can’t take another night

wishful thinking and fantasies

don’t leave their scent when they leave the room

just fatuous hope for their return

I must rouse my worthy friend

for the storm has passed and the sun brings light

and the birds will sing for the squirrels to dance

as my heart goes out to meet my love

to be received in cozy arms

I think this poem not only expresses the loss of love but also the hope of finding love.
