A Sunset on a beach.

My footsteps leave craters behind me
The water rushes up to tease me with its coolness,
Rushing away to hide again.
While my footsteps leave craters behind me
Meandering alone, watching the waves crash into the sand
Observing the broad, green, leafy palms,
Swaying in the cool, gentle, wind.
Seeing all the people, running and yelling
Surveying the sky, turning to deep purples and blues
Watching the seagulls, fighting
Over pickings of a meal.
While my footsteps leave craters behind me
Squinting to see dolphins, on the horizon, playing
My Footsteps leave craters behind me
Wading into the water, coolness lapping against My legs, feeling one with… everything.
Feeling the sand sucking my feet underneath it
Like buried treasure of long ago.
I feel a little buddy, going in for the kill on my toes
Finally, I see the most marvelous thing,
The amber sun, ticking the edge of the water,
Slipping into the effortless waves,
It begins to disappear.
Submitting to the ocean,
It sinks slowly into the deep blue abyss
As I turn to leave, looking down I notice,
My footsteps leaving craters behind me.
