Crazy in Love

Five in the morning as I reset both my alarms
my only thought is another minute in your arms
before another day
I must spend away
Trying to make a buck

Your naked warm skin, your arm tight over my chest
legs and feet woven together as the robin makes his nest
five minutes and then
the alarm sounds again
Workdays suck

Up on my feet, I stumble aimlessly across the floor
you always manage to meet me as I walk out the door
a long kiss goodbye
an agreeable sigh
Fighting the urge to stay

The days at work are definitely long  and dreary
without your presence I become anxious and weary
yet I pause on your smile
and I’m good for a while
Till the end of the day

I rush to your side as you greet me with longing embrace
I can tell you missed me too, it shows brightly upon your face
we talk hour upon hour
pausing only to devour
