A poem about a school yard crush.
Crush
Lean and tall,
As his white school shirt
stretched over his chest from growth.
He like many boys his age liked to play dumb.
They thought it made them cool.
Made it so they had trouble sparking conversation.
His hair was a soft brown
Accented with electric highlights.
His eye’s river pebbles
And skin copper from kisses from the sun.
I sometimes feel struck by lightning when he’s near
But that’s alright.
I’m young and I won’t make the same mistake twice.
I met his heart of gold.
To bad my hearts surrounded by diamond.
