Another poem I wrote, it means a lot to me. One of my favorites.
Shattered about, from the inside out
With a spirit like that of a lion
But, courage had since left the house
He had an unbreakable fear, in his heart he held dear
And so close to tears, crying out for his father
Fading memories of a past he could not alter
Indefinite voices of a man he never knew
Not far away, but too far to make do
So instead he just paces as his very heart races
With absolutely no other clue
Cub Scout, Cub Scout, no where to run to
Another memory faded…So many, yet, so few
Anger roars at the tip of his tongue
Howling out to the world, “what have you done?”
Abandoned, forsaken, your very own son?
There is no place like home, or so I’ve been told
But in a world with no home, everything just seems cold
And this fur coat just makes me feel bold
Because on the inside, there’s no heart to hold
I’m here and all alone because everything is gone
But soon this little Cub Scout won’t be so young
So, for now I’ll just run, and I’ll run, and I’ll run
As fast as I can out towards the sun
Because one day I’ll be that shining star
The little twinkle in the night
A cub scout so young, but yet, so bright
And as one last tear falls from this eye
Just another vague fantasy, fading into the sky
Another lost hope, that one last goodbye…
