The following poem is from a collection of 41 written by me to try describing Huntington’s Disease (HD).

This is Part two of a scenario where the workplace has learnt of an employee facing HD. Employment rules have come a long way to guard against descrimination on the grounds of disablility but, it is still so hard when you feel you are not as valued as you were once.

The Boss (Part 2)

Three months on from Appraisal,

And Claire has been moved on.

Her boss became so distant,

And things were feeling wrong.

He argued that her skill sets,

Were sadly now found lacking;

If not for Personnel’s input,

He would have argued sacking.

So now Claire’s sat in Post Room,

The only job they had.

Okay it is less daily stress,

But Claire is feeling sad.

She feels for all the years they shared,

He didn’t want to know.

He couldn’t handle her needs now,

Her boss just let her go
