The following poem is from a collection of 41 written by me to try describing Huntington’s Disease (HD).

Here I have tried to remember those affected by HD must never give up hope that a cure, or at least better treatment, may be just around the corner.

It also reminds me of why I started these poems… To raise awareness and generate funds for the Huntington’s Disease Association (HDA).

 The Hope

She writes the poems, one by one,

And reads them back at length.

They paint a picture hard to bear,

It’s taken all her strength.

And yet she feels the picture’s wrong,

It’s lacking, incomplete.

It’s missing sense of hope and help,

It’s lost in its defeat.

The picture does look bleak it’s true,

But who is there to say,

With public’s help and knowledge found,

A cure’s not on its way?

So if you’ve taken time to read,

And feel moved by her verse.

Please think of those with Huntington’s,

And help us cure this curse.
