Without emotion, are we really ever human?
The circadian clock, counting
Punctures time with its precise pinprick
Tainting every second
With its incessant hackneyed tick
I lay broken open, waiting
For a sign, a twitch
But life no longer holds meaning
The game suffers a glitch
I open my eyes
But with no sight to behold
Degenerated earth, murmurs no comfort
Lamenting a fate unspoken, yet foretold
The darkness encroaches, an embittered plague
Sneering menacingly at game over… almost
It forsakes the defeated and dead
I am the only one left to be lost
I flee, expect fear to course through my veins
Yet my body is clenched by a numbing iron fist
Hope is a hoax, love is a lie
My heart is leaden… does it even exist
Languidly melting into oblivion
Substance corrodes into the deranged
Vices escape my haggard fingers’ reach
Bearing no significance, I have no will to change
I evade capture, sink into nothing
Encompassed by an indefinite void
Concealed beneath the sole speck of beauty
And I’ll survive, paranoid
Cold-blooded fate, engendered from ignorance
Yet you persist in your frivolous fray
Unaware paramours to death, you all are
… me? I will shut the world away.
