A poem describing part of my life, living in a tropical paradise.
Daily my life revolves around the beach
On most days it is still, no surf
As I walk across, feet burning upon the sand
Floating lazily in the sea, so warm and clear
Slowly swimming beneath the sun
Thankful for the respite of a cloud
Today is so hot, oh for a cloud
Thankful to cool off within yards of the beach
Becoming bronzed from the sun
Peaceful here, gently lapping surf
Why we are here not abundantly clear
Too much thought as I lay upon the sand
Swimming deep, down to the sand
Perfect vision, nothing to cloud
A few weeds, otherwise water crystal clear
Almost deserted back on the beach
Gentle waves no chance to surf
Just me, the sea and the sun
Today I awake where is the sun?
Rain lashing down upon the sand
The sea is wild, today big surf
Windy, rainy! Oh why so much cloud
As I look out across my rain sodden beach
No swimming today, that’s abundantly clear
Once the tropical storm passes, all will be clear
As here I sit awaiting the appearance of the sun
Much debris is washed up along miles of the beach
Intermingled, abandoned all across the sand
Pristine, perfection this does a little cloud
All this flotsam, brought here by the surf
Today a Barbie, full of turf and surf
Mountains of food required, that’s so clear
Skies please keep away that cloud
For this day we want the sun
As we set up here upon the sand
On this place, our own little beach
Running across the beach, sprinting into the surf
Footprints left deeply in the sand, sharp and clear
Gazing up at the ever present sun, hopeful nothing will cloud.
