A view of war. Artistic and somewhat romanticized into the harsh vision that one would see, having been there.

torn limb from limb

the bloody masses consume the vision

the screams now distant echoes

body numb from the adrenaline

having now fled from the body

fist protesting the grip on the blade

the sword falls

the darkness creeps in

chasing away the sun

appalled by the angry scene

the dance of steel

the mass painting of crimson

staining the ground and lifeless mounds

this battle having no true winner

the last body falls

thumping to the ground

with so many lost souls

stolen away by human hands

one would wonder

if this fight was truly worth it

It reminded me of the time I was civil war re-enacting at Shiloh,TN..In my studies of that battle 7500 union and confederate soldiers were killed in the first 30 minutes. This event of the civil war re-enactment had 7500 dressed up soldiers .It was a awesome display seeing confederates and union soldiers looking over the battlefield .So much so that I was overwhelmed by emotion having tears come out of my eyes playing dead watching this reenacting of this horrific battle take place.
