I still find it hard to understand why there are so many of us who refuse to interact with anyone else. This disconnection is what will tear us apart.
-A.N.Trani.

Sitting at the traffic light
the colour blurs from green to red
and the spectrum of life flows
from underneath conscious thought
to the tips of glossy eyelashes
And all I can think about is you,
That’s if I could think at all.
And the music is loud
and the heat from the crowd
can’t drown out goodbye.

The headlights reflect
in the back of my mind
and I know I should push the pedal
Just let go of the brakes
and allow the emotion to flow
as the driver waits behind my
stationary moment.
Odd how the universe
can collapse and expand
and we don’t feel a thing
except a soft hum
-if your listening.

Looking up at the light from the street lamp
The red long changed to green
— like liquid gold
in the blue sting of dawn
suddenly aware I’m alone in my car
and I know you’re alright
wherever you are
And though I can’t feel you
beside me
It’s like you never left.
funny how we never feel so alone
as when we’re surrounded by people.
