The sweet lull of eternal slumber.

Death came to me softly
In the darkest of nights
Across the nightingale floor
On wispy threads of slumber
He leans in upon my ear
Whispering gently to me:
“Release your fears little one
Let go of your inhibitions
For I shall hold you eternal
Keeping you safe and sheltered
No more heartache and sorrow
No more tears and loneliness
For I come to take you home
All that I ask from you is…
Give all of yourself to me”
“All of me…?”
I ask, breathless
“Yes, all of you little one
For I only love you alone”
My eyes slowly flutter open
As patches of sunlight pierce through
I was no longer here…
I was finally home
