Poem from “The Deep Dark Sweet Rantings of a Yeshua Freak” by Lady Frangelica Seraphica Zen.
DARKNESS
I sat in the darkness alone
Sitting on a desolate bus stop bench
In the neighborhood where I found you
Cool air hugs me and keeps me company
Its icy breath slowly paralyzing my body
I know you are somewhere in a café
Perhaps playing some gig in a smoky club
Somewhere I could picture myself
Waiting for you in the back
Like the other girls plotting to make you theirs
I saw myself being your girl
Remembering when I was the one
Sitting on the window sill of your place
Where someone passing by could see my silhouette
Outside of the sheer yellow curtains was darkness
And I kept my eyes on you
As you undressed me like you probably have so many
My back faced the window
Watching the glow of the candles
Gleaming upon your smooth burnished skin
I remember myself crying softly from the pleasure
And also from the fact that you will never be mine
My vision is interrupted and I see the headlights of your car
I watch you and another pretty woman hanging on your every movement
Soon her silhouette was etched against the sheer yellow curtains
Now I am that someone passing by
You undress her the same way I bet
She shivers from your touch and you smile because of your skill
A moment passes and I watch you raise the curtains
The bright-lit tip of your cigarette burns in the semi-darkness
Smoke curls out from your full beautiful mouth
You feel my eyes staring at you
My bus approaches and I take one last look at you
I stand under the street lamp so you can take full notice of me
You lower your cigarette and stare at me across the street
And I smile softly at you
I ignore your nonchalant wave
As I step on the bus, suddenly I feel lucky
You will continue to dazzle and seduce
But now you are a ghost to me
The one beautiful ghost that I must take flight from.
