Written a while back – From a young parent torn between striving for her own future and having to play the role of parent.
Crowded as the world may be, with so many things to do
So many matters to consider, but still I worry about you
I see hugging your little body, soft and close to me
Closing my eyes and smelling, the little sweetness of you
Sometimes you look at me with awe, and sometimes you gaze with pain
While I, I look around wildly, trying to understand in vain
If only there was a manual in parenting, if someone would just tell me what to do
The intricacies of right and wrong, then maybe I won’t make a mistake with you
I know little one, I am far away
I know you long for me, please know, I long for you too
Hold on my love, someday we will be together and I can take care of you
