The joy of dreaming in daylight.

A spinning top that has no end
Causes me to daydream as I stare into it’s
Circling motion.
I have heard that daydreaming
Sparks creativity
And I believe it.
I often zone out
Thinking to myself about what I will
Say to the next person
Who tries to stifle me.
Unluckily I never get far
In doing what I daydream
But as the psychologists say
It does often help me to come up
With an alternate solution.
More often than not
I like not the solution that I do
Come up with.
I’d much rather
Take in the daydreams suggestion.
Daydreaming has brung me to alternate universes
Where I am the princess of a time untraveled.
On the back of a pink unicorn
I soar.
A man down on one knee
In a large room proposing to me
As I stare in awe.
Then nothing.
My eyes traverse along the words in a book
That get jumbled up as I daydream.
We are taught not to zone out
We are taught to pay heedless attention
To the task at hand.
I on the other hand hold fast to dreams
Occurring under the light of a sun
That could itself be a part
Of the dream.
