April 15th, at least here in the USA is without a doubt the least loved day of any day in the entire year…It is Tax Day, the final deadline and like death, you can’t avoid it…you have to pay, one way or another. It is aggravating, especially when you are already not very happy with how our hard earned tax dollar is being spent. All to often we wait until the last seconds are ticking off before we break down and pay the fiddler.

Deadlines, those final minutes

before it is too late.

Why is it that we put things off,

why do we always choose wait

‘til that last hour is upon us,

why do we procrastinate

when we know that deadline date?

Deadlines, last chance to get it done.

Circle that date in red.

If we don’t pay the fiddler for the dance

we are just as good as dead.

He’ll track us down. He’ll find us.

It is best to think and do ahead…

Circle that date in red.

Procrastination, pushing that deadline;

It’s the weed that chokes our best intentions,

we know it, yet we seldom go ahead,

just get it done; and I should not fail to mention

the road of self-destruction

is paved with our good intentions?

We should not put off until tomorrow

what we can and ought to do today,

because it’s deadlines breathing down our neck

that make us grumps and turns us gray.

We might as well just do it,

get those deadlines out of the way.

Since we have to do it anyhow, why procrastinate?

It seems to me that pushing deadlines

is not worth the aggravation,

and once we’ve got that job done,

it’s excuse for a celebration;

Our fifteen seconds of fame,

April 15th rolled around

and we beat the deadline game.
