This is a poem of hope for all women who are victims of domestic violence.

Dear mum, why do you cry.

Dear mum, why do you cry in humiliating pain,

Ignore the night’s violence, like a tornado,

That passed when dad came home out of his brain,

Wipe out those tears and open your window,

Look out at the sunshine from the eye of the sun

And marvel at the flowers bloom, sway in the wind

As if dancing to the chirping birds having fun,

The rainbow shines beyond, there’s no more rain,

It’s another new day, forget the night,

When he spoke in a thunder-like voice,

It was just another fight, causing fright,

But all is well now, be merry and rejoice,

You see, peace exists every new day,

Be like the carver, who chops pieces,

Of pain and misery out of the way,

To create peace, prosperity and all riches,

You see mum, there is a heaven on earth,

Everyday, you see nature gives a hint,

Of God’s love until your last breath,

For joy comes in abundance, not a pint.
