A old poem about a former love…
Dear Sunshine,
The light that exists within you has been ignited
A fiery passion to live it is
I wanna share it with you,
day in and day out
Damn anyone who would deny us
For what we have is as true as any other love
And yes, we will have to fight for it
As is with any other thing worth having
Can’t you see I don’t care what you were?
My concern is what you are becoming and what you will be
Fight, my darling, fight for your right to shine bright
Dear Sunshine,
Allow me the chance to take your fragile heart in my hands
And allow me to let it go where it needs to be
Allow me the chance to teach what you want to learn
Always know my heart is not earned, but given
And you never have to be anymore than what you are.
I want you to know that you were a dream I conceived
A heart that I believed
A truth untried, a life denied
And a friend through and through
I’m sorry I gave up on you
You were something so special I thought you too good to be true
I’ll tell your story in my dreams
Write letters of your destiny on any screen
Want you forever, in any weather
Because I see how precious we can be
I won’t lie, you are the unknown song in my heart
The final frontier of my life
But, if all this is true, and you are you
Then allow us to be we
And no matter what, no matter how many times they say you
can’t be a child of God
Rebel against that fallacy
And shine on baby, shine with or without me…
