Vertigo Vickie receives encouraging musical letter from her friend Tornado Tammy. (sung to the tune of “I Hope You Dance” by Lee Ann Womack)
Dear Vertigo Vickie
I hope you never completely lose your marbels.
You get your pills to eat,
and your speech remains ungarbled.
May your psychiatrist
never take you for granted,
Heaven forbid your
insurance leave him empty-handed.
I hope you still feel sane when you find
your underwear stolen.
When you want out of closet, I hope that barn
door opens.
Promise me – to give shock therapy
a decent chance.
And when you get the choice to weave baskets
or to dance,
I hope you dance and weave,
weave and dance, I hope you dance.
I hope you never fear hallucinations in
the distance,
Never tempt hospital staff with your resistance.
Submission is not takin’ chances that ain’t
worth takin’.
Submission is never a mistake, and it’s
worth makin’.
Don’t let some hell-bent nurses leave you bitter,
Don’t forget what “Strapped-Down’s” like
and reconsider.
Don’t scream to high heaven and nurses will
give only a passing glance.
And if you get the choice to weave baskets
or to dance.
I hope you dance and weave,
weave and dance,
and dance and weave and dance!
Friendly yours,
Tornado Tammy
