Written after my grandmother passed away…

The heavens themselves share my grief
Drowning in sorrow I sit in class
Lost I feel as the sky’s weep
Feels like I’m walking on shattered glass

You lied. “I’ll always be there for you”, you said
You’re not and I cry alone.
Why is it that we grieve for the dead?
Why is that we cry and moan?

I would have followed you behind the veil
Rather than bear this heart wrenching pain.
Memories of happier times through my mind sail,
I wonder how much longer I will remain sane.
For now I must be strong for
My time too will eventually come.
