A halloween poem, to fright and delight.
It was Halloween night
And all through our town
Things were starting to stir
And not just above ground
Just after midnight, I told hubby
To meet me in bed
But what crawled in beside me

I scrambled out from the sheets
As I let out a scream
Threw open the window
And dived through the screen
Then what to my terrified
Eyes should appear
But a half dozen Zombies
And I shivered with fear
I dashed to my truck
And tore off down the street
The thick stench in the air
Smelled like old rotten meat
The old truck made a sputter
Then a bang, and a lurch
And died dead in the road

Safety, I prayed,
If I can make it inside
But between me and the door
The graveyard came alive
Bodies lumbered and twitched
As they all gathered round
And still more were struggling
To break free of the ground
Their faces were covered
In maggots and worms
And something under their skin
Slithered and squirmed
I made a run for the church
My only chance out of hell
When three steps from the door
My feet slipped, and I fell
They were on me so fast
I smelled their stale rancid breath
And for the next ten minutes
I prayed for my death

I awoke with a start,”It was only a dream,
Nothing to be scared of, It’s just Halloween”
Then I reached for my husband, and started to scream……
