Inspired by an article called "How to Kill a Church"!
Image via Wikipedia
Some doctors do a patient wrong
When others do not lend their aid.
Then loved ones sing a funeral song,
For careless errors that were made!
But, aren’t there those who kill a flock,
Within some ministries today?
While striving for a better walk,
They seek to have it their own way!
Within the walls they teach and teach,
While a dying world on the outside lurks.
Oh, will we strive, go out and reach,
Or concentrate on a deeper church?!
Will rigor mortis take its toll,
While the church appears to be alive?
Or will we go, reach one more soul,
That we and they together thrive?
Oh, do the songs of church today
Bring life to strengthen, edify?
Or is it just another way
The sleeping church doth shrivel, die?
And does the preaching of today
Do more than fill another hour?
Oh, do they loud proclaim and say
A risen Saviour still has power
To save another soul who’ll come
By Calvary, and make Christ their choice.
For thus they make His Heaven their Home,
And all who’ve gone before rejoice!
