I was reading a literary magazine, and I saw an article which received only an honorary mention. I, however, thought that it was one of the best pieces of work I had ever seen.
It was that work that inspired me to write this piece. This…essay? is based around the same structure of the piece I saw. I don’t think that the reader is meant to understand it, I think that it has two purposes; this guide will either make you think, or guide your views to new understanding.

The Duality of Vision:

To any Judeo-Christian thinker, nay, any western thinker, the world is conveniently divided into two distinct and separate parts: that which is one, and that which is its other. Everything has its equal and opposite, and far too often, especially when it comes to religion, one is defined as good, and the other evil. However, if we move towards the Orient, a new ideology arises. (A side note, if I may: I mean not to draw differences between ethnicities or cultures. This contrast is an unfortunate, or some may consider, a fortunate, accident of geography.) This ideology is also based in duality, but lacks a key part of that which makes up the western thinking; good and evil. Everything does have an opposite, it believes, but not all opposites are composed of beneficial or malevolent. One may take a moment and muse over the lovely irony that arises here, between the two thinkers.

            Both are wrong.

There is no duality in life. Much like how all matter is composed of atoms, and those atoms, though intrinsically different, are all composed of electrons, neutrons, and protons. These elements share no different qualities; two electrons are indistinguishable. Though an argument can be made that perhaps the trio form opposites in their existence, one only needs to look further, into the composition of these particles, to find that they are composed of a singular substance: unique in itself, but not a single one shall be considered unique among its peers. And this is life, the world, and the universe. Everything conceivable is composed of the same thing. Perhaps this thing, this substance, can take different forms, but delve deep enough, and you will find only the same matter which composes the whole scope of comprehension.

The human race perceives the world in dualities for the sake of existence. An accident of evolution, we are forced to view the world around us as one of two opposites. It is this duality of vision that drives us to build, fight, advance, and become stronger. This vision, this perception is correct, though such a thing does not exist.

At first glance, this empire of lies has the appearance of an empire of lies. But lies are merely truths in another form, and truths are the same things as facts, opinions, and lies. Our duality of vision is correct, as much as it is wrong, and duality of vision is the same as seeing the universe in and of itself as a singular substance.
