When Called upon…

Our enemies hide their faces. They wait for the final hour, lying in shadowed places until they take the power. Our brave are sent away, to far and foreign lands, here their forced to stay its taken from their hands.

They take away your guns, and replace them with new phones, send away our sons and give them free tombstones. You never see it coming, until the day they’re at your door, the quickness will be numbing as the country faces war.

They hit us where we hurt, when money has no value. To make us all convert. what have we gotten into? We give them all the power, to make our worries right. but our fates will soon go sour, time to say goodnight.

We are all too blind to see, whats been going on, they give us technology while battle lines are drawn. Your I-pod keeps your attention while they slowly take you rights, never do they mention that you’ve been in their sights.

The wait is slowly fading, Soon will be the day when they will start invading and by then its way to late. Stand up for your freedom,  and hold on to your guns, you just may find you need them when that dark day comes.

Hey if they dont like what you say (whitch I fell has a lot of truth to it) then they must have on blinders. Only wanting to see what they want and the rest of the people are wrong. But thats one FREEDOM some take for granted(Speech).

Ok I am sure I am in the minority here when it comes to feelings on the war and soldiers, etc but since you ask…

We currently do not have the draft in the USA. Our soldiers enlist to service by choice. In peace time, this is is great choice for many young people who desire an education and the other benefits the military offers. They are also aware of the possibility that they may need to engage in war time activities. They can not get upset because they are asked to do a job they signed up for and I believe most soldiers are not.
We, the USA, are the most powerful country in the world. The possibilities that we would lose that power are incomprehensible.
Our country would be not only attacked but life as we know it would be over.
We won our freedoms from fighting for them. We are a country because we fought to maintain and defend them. We all want the freedom of speech, religion, and choice, yet take them for granted by protesting the very way we got them.
If people really want peace and for the USA to \”pull out\” and \”send our troops home\” then they should stand by and support them and at least take a little pride in what we do have and educate themselves on foreign policy. If the USA pulls out of Iraq and brings those troops home it will send a message to the entire world that we are weak and our word is not good.
It sends a message to our allies that they can not count on us and it sends a huge message to our enemies that we will not stand up for ourselves or our allies. What is the message to those who lost a loved one or troops that are now disabled? That they fought for nothing? That the people in our country that exercise daily the very freedoms they fought for are cheering their loss?
    Very sad!

    Let me clarify,

This work uses metaphors to describe our government taking us all out with bad decisions. I think we can all agree on that. Thank you.

Nice subject. I enjoyed reading the other reader comments on this one. It got some pretty cool feed back.

This is a very nice Orwellean work you have here (or perhaps I should say Huxlean as it suits a Brave New World better than 1984).
I think it is well written and it does make a valid point. But I also think that many fear that our soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines will tow the line when that day comes and not buck the order (ie. Opperation Garden Plot).
Regardless, its a thought provoking work and as always I enjoy your work.
