Defying the Rules

Words don’t come easy without a melody.

I’m always thinking in terms of do-re-mi.

I should be biking, swimming, laughing with you,

Instead I’m all out of sync.

It’s not the same between us lately,

Something is holding me.

At first I did not know what this might be;

But then I realized suddenly that

This something is no other than me.

It’s hard for me to stay away from you,

I think I don’t have the strength to lose you.

But there is nothing I can really do,

But to really, really stay away from you.

I know this is a hard thing to do,

But I know this is the best thing to do.

To stay away from you and… let you go.
