Dangers in the World.
“Then went Samson to Gaza, and saw there an harlot, and went in unto her. And it was told the Gazites, saying, Samson is come hither. And they compassed in, and laid wait for him all night in the gate of the city, and were quiet all the night, saying, In the morning, when it is day, we shall kill him. And Samson lay till midnight, and arose at midnight, and took the doors of the gate of the city, and went away with them bar and all, and put them upon his shoulders, and carried them up to the top of an hill that is before Hebron. And it came to pass afterward, that he loved a woman in the valley of Sorek, whose name was Delilah.”
Judges 16:1-4
Samson went to a place that was called,
The valley of choicest vines.
Why was he there when he had a vow,
Not to taste and partake of sweet wine?
There he met a young woman, Delilah,
Who would feign learn the source of his strength.
She would find it, she would, by persistence.
Yes, he told her his secret at length!
She asked and she asked him continually.
Thus she drained and she pressured his soul.
“What’s the meaning of this? For these men know
Some thing which to me you’ve not told!”
Thus he told her how he could be weakened,
And she held him as men cut his hair.
And when he awoke, move attempted,
He discovered himself fast there!
He still had desire for the battle,
But no way to ward off the fight,
As the Philistines boldly approached him,
And deprived him of precious sight!
How is it with you, precious Christian?
What’s the length of your spiritual locks?
Have you been wooed into temptation,
By some fair Delilah’s sweet talk?
And how’s it with you, precious brother?
What’s the state of your spiritual tresses?
Have you been drawn into much trouble,
By some sweet, young Delilah’s caresses?
Remember the Power Source is Jesus,
Lest someone have you in derision.
Stay away from the poison of serpents.
Keep His goal for your life in your vision!
