For some of us it could well happen to yourself or to someone you know.

Living with someone with dementia can become a stranger
They can forget your name
They can put themselves at risk and in danger
Which is a shame.

It can be painful to both of you
When they don’t know your face, both of you will be fretting
You don’t know what to do
When they are constantly forgetting.

It can put on you quite a strain
They don’t believe you no matter what you have said
It’s a disease that affects the brain
When they say who is this stranger beside my bed?

It’s breaking your heart to what you are seeing
No more of their love and caring
Or memory and conversation sharing
They see you as a nurse looking after their well being.

This is a person you once knew so well
It will be you wondering who is this stranger here
They will get worse then you will want to yell
At least in a nursing home they will have constant help there.
