A soldier’s return.

Dawn mist gently hugs the land

White, softly illuminated

by spearing rays of sun.

In the distance

muffled scrape

steel rimmed wheels.

He returns

her beloved husband.

Letters written

urgent strong strokes first

weak, illegible later.

He draws near

wane smile a grey apparition.

Her love

her life.

She dreamt home coming

dreamt happiness

dreamt his dead eyes

would shine again

A vivid description. I should have thought many can relate to this, even today. Well done.
