A poem about my lack of sleep.

Image via Wikipedia

Even as I begin to write

I am struggling with my sight

Blurriness has filled my eyes

And they’re shrinking in size

I have to stay very concentrated

Or my mind will wander like I’m intoxicated

There’s so much left for me to do

While the sky transitions from black to blue

My face droops like a weeping willow

Hopefully soon, it’ll hit the pillow

Right now, I have to kill some time

So I’m just making lines that rhyme

I could sit around and play guitar

But nothing has inspired me so far

I would’ve found a book to read

But I had a huge appetite I had to feed

My A.D.D. is kicking in

And it’s getting under my skin

All the while, one thought runs through my head

I still wonder when I can go to bed

    I like this poem,
I like the style of your rhyming
    – and such a great topic too!

Interesting work. I am not sure what A.D.D. is but if it affects sleep it must be difficult to live with.

I’m so with you! Nicely written.

One of my boys has A.D.D. I have found him awake many a morning. Good description of what I’m sure his mind goes through, too. Great write!!
