When you are in trouble, and don’t know which way to go, stand still, and let God move.
Detours, Dead Ends, and Dry Holes
“And it came to pass, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that God led them not through the way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near; for God said, lest peradventure the people repent when they see war, and they return to Egypt: but God led the people about, through the way of the wilderness of the Red sea: and the children of israel went up harnessed out of the land of Egypt. And they took their journey from Succoth, and encamped in Etham, in the edge of the wilderness.” Exodus 13:17, 18, 20
“And I, if I be lifted up from the earth will draw all men unto me.” John 12:32
“But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.” Ephesians 2:13
God knew what Israel could not face.
The Philistine army was so sure.
So sent around by a lengthened path,
To teach them discipline by detour!
Just do make sure the detoured path
Is followed at the Saviour’s Voice.
Not the way that you would have it be,
A road that’s merely of your choice!
For sometimes on the Saviour’s path,
He makes you come to some dead end,
That you would not on self rely,
But on your God you would depend!
The Holy Spirit is at work.
If His Small Voice in heart you hear,
Then follow Him along His path,
Full knowing there’s no need to fear!
He’ll guide you by His mighty Hand,
And give you tokens of His Love.
He only asks that you in faith
Stand still and let His dear Hand move!
He made your situation and
He knows where He would have you be.
He only asks, Fear not, stand still,
And His salvation you will see!
Three days into the wilderness,
God brought them to a testing ground.
They could not drink the water there,
Until a remedy was found!
So God for us made bitter sweet,
Procured for us a remedy.
When all around was wilderness,
God gave new life upon a Tree!
And when within a our daily life,
God sends us by dry water holes.
He whispers, Child of Mine, I’m here,
Look to Me, and I will feed your soul!
