The fact remains that if the world criticises your actions and you are opposed by all yet if you can look at yourself eye to eye in the mirror without a flinch then it is enough…
As I stand gazing at my mirror image, my reflection
Looking back at me with eyes mute but faintly accusatory
Asking a hundred questions with reproving eyes
Not a word is uttered by the quiet lips
But the silence is pregnant with queries hanging in abeyance
One can cheat the world with indifferent nonchalance
Hiding all vestiges of guilt mushrooming in the soul
Yet when standing before once own conscience
All hypocrisy is wasted and is of no avail
For one may not know anything but knows oneself thoroughly
All facades are droped all camouflage washed away
And we stand stripped naked to the blatant truth
Lies are like bubbles burst soon into tears of remorse
Or like paper roses that are covered by cobwebs with Time
And lose all the borrowed fragrance only too soon
Like mirages that lure you into the depth of arid wasteland
All fabrications are seemingly magnificient but lack substance
And all liars in their hearts have tewinges of repentance
If one is innocent the whole world cannot make him feel remorse
He may be frustrated by people’s distrust and accusations
But he can look at himself unflinchingly in the mirror
Having a dialogue with self without losing eye contact
For no one can lie to himself
So try not to be unsullied in the eyes of all
But just to look at yourself unwavering in the mirror
The mirror is transparent it never lies…
