I wrote this a long while back, during a brief flirtation with the Bible, and in particularly, the dark side of it—Revelations c13. A couple of lines are, in fact, lifted from it.

Revelations says the beast lies within

And before us in the image of man

If any man has an ear let him hear

If any man bows to temptation let him fear

He that kills by the sword shall die by the sword

He that listens deeply shall understand the word

                    ***

And I stood upon the sand of the sea

And saw the beast rise up out of the sea

Having seven heads and ten horns all crowned

In a giant wave of darkness the light was drowned

And through the veil of blackness I could see

Written upon his heads was blasphemy

                    ***

And I saw a head wounded to death then healed

But lost sight of the false trickery concealed

So on lost souls his power was released

And all the world wandered after the beast

For the beast was now in the image of man

With his transcendent disguise his work began

                    ***

His power brought great fire from the sky

He let it be said that all who un-believed should die

He tempted through a calm tranquillity

And led lost sheep into captivity

Disinherited with no returning or going back

Lost to the arc-angel with the wings of black

                    ***

Revelations says the beast lies within

And before us in the image of man

For the beast left its mark branded on their hand

Count the number of the beast count the number of the man

Six-hundred three-score and six is the number that shall be

It’s on every lost sheep ever led into captivity

                      ***

I know much of Revelations and although dark it foretells some our most darkest destruction’s upon earth and within man.

The beast lives inside of man and every second he schemes to seduce him with his false truths and trickery.

    A wonderful piece of work!

Again very nice work I truly enjoy your talent. Have you ever read “The Ishbane Conspiracy” or “Lord Foulgrins Letters”? Both are admittedly heavily christain books, but they are written from the viewpoint of demons assigned to destory mortals and claim their souls.. Whether christain, religious, non- religious or even blatantly anti- religious these books are a great read.

You have a unique style. I admire that. If we didnt have our own unique style what would we be. Keep it um man. I love reading your work.

Very Dark and deeply spooky. You thread the revelation quotes very well within this piece and the reality of this prose is timeless like the bible. Man has been corrupted….it’s our destiny. Powerful writing Steve. A definate re-read.

I can see how people take revelations so literally. In the right hands it is very powerful stuff.

Was this the King James version Steve?..the early English bible? ..a wonderfully worded piece of poetry re: The Antichrist and the False Prophet which is very much related to present day history. Revelation 13:03 – for example, Nazi Germany at the end of the 2nd World War lay in ruins..never to see the light of day again :-)

Again, pretty powerful and so real. It is within us all. Some really bad….some not so bad. Is having a religious faith really going to save us? Our salvation? I guess we make our own paths and the journey begins. It will all end in death. Are we born good or bad? Are we just impulsive beasts? Maybe. Really great prose and one I could read again and again and really think about what you have written. Really good poetry. Solid!

A very bold and powerful write Steve. The way you expressed the words, almost spitting them out was truly an awesome reading experience!

In London everything of interest is always 666 meters from the next place of interest.
Buckingham Palace to Westminster Cathedral is 666 meters
Buckingham Palace to Victoria Station is 666 meters and so on. I wrote an article on it…well on the mysterious Ley lines!
