A poem from a mother to her children.

I,ve made mistakes in the past. More than a few,

But the lessons I learned I pass down to you.

I’ve hurt, and I’ve cried, I’ve got a number of regrets,

I’ve acquired enemies, hurt family, and mounted up debts.

I’ve cheated and lied but I learned from it all,

I’ve been forgiven and learned that to learn you must fall.

I look at you now and I hope for so much,

I want love, faith and luck in all that you touch.

I want you to learn from the mistakes that I made,

I want you to grow from the foundations we laid.

I’ve made mistakes in the past, more than a few,

But please do as I say now, not as I do.

Very neat poem, but ufortunately people do not listen they seem to prefer to make their own mistakes, and not listen to the wisdom of others. Here is a quote I read years ago that I think fits this poem nicely, \”A fool learns from his mistakes, the wise man learns from the fool\”.

This was very well done. I’ve said that to my cousins in simpler terms several times.

Nice poem Emily. If only they would listen to us as Mothers, but they have to make their own mistakes, and we have to let them no matter how much it hurts!!
