Micheal questioned if a mermaid existed at all for all his life.A fishing trip turned bad convinced him otherwise that they existed.this may not convince you but it was fun to write.
but Michael left her a rose as a thank you present.
He went back to see if his rose was gone or not,
it was gone and beautiful shells were there instead.

his answer is a firm yes that they do exist even now.
